Mrs Ruth Jean Gordon

Ruth Jean Purdy Gordon passed into the peaceful rest of Our Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Greenwich Hospital. Born April 12, 1940 to the late Rose “Pucci” Purdy and John Purdy. Ruth was married to John L. Gordon, Sr. for almost 40 years until he predeceased her in October, 1998. Together they raised their three children, the Late Michelle Hotchkiss who predeceased her in July, 2015, Carol Bosile of Greenwich, CT and John Gordon, Jr. of Greenwich, CT. Ruth was a stay at home mom until her children were of age and then after several jobs, she became a dental assistant and worked for Dr. Khan and Dr. Laug from which she retired. She also was a volunteer at The Mews on Arch Street in Greenwich. A life-long resident of Greenwich, Ruth graduated from Greenwich High School in 1958 Ruth had several passions. She was an avid collector and was a regular at Goodwill and tag sales. She cherished her extensive collection of owls, thimbles, teapots, blue and white China and an assortment of knick knacks. Ruth was also very creative. She loved to bake, cook and had an amazing green thumb witnessed by the 28 thriving plants in her home. Ruth leaves behind a daughter, Carol Bosile; a son John L. Gordon, Jr. and grandchildren Doranda Sanchez and Tony Bardliving and niece Bonnie Gordon McNeil and nephew Victor Gordon. Ruth is also survived by 5 sisters; Barbara Gzeckowicz, Margaret Goodhart, Frances Sarna, Effie Ribuffo and Patricia Purdy and survived by 5 brothers, Chester, Joseph, Floyd, Dennis and Gregory Purdy. She is predeceased by 2 brothers Luis and John and 2 sisters, Rosemarie Lewis and Mary Hawe. Ruth is from a large family with scores of cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 am, followed by a service of celebration at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, 10 Northfield St., Greenwich, CT. with Rev. Dr. Thomas Nins officiating. Entombment will follow at Putnam Cemetery, Greenwhich, CT.
