Richard F. Palmer

Richard “Ritchie” F. Palmer of Stamford, Connecticut, born on November 8, 1949, passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital on February 28, 2026, surrounded by care and kindness from those who loved him—including the doctors and nurses who were by his side in his final moments. Ritchie graduated from Wright Technical High School, shortly after Ritchie courageously enlisted in the United States Army on January 28, 1969 amidst the Vietnam War. He rose to the rank of Specialist Four (SP4) with the artillery unit, completing over 25 aerial missions in support of operations. His kindness and dedication reflected within his service. Ritchie was awarded several service medals such as national defense service medal, VSM, and was honorably discharged on February 9, 1970. Following his military service, Ritchie began his civilian career as an apprentice with The Stamford Advocate before joining the United States Postal Service in Stamford, CT. His hard work and dedication spanned four decades until his retirement in 2011, when he was honored with a special dedication award recognizing his 40 years of loyal service. Ritchie’s life was rich with love, friendship, and energy. He was an avid baseball player and lifelong fan of the sport, as well as an enthusiastic golfer, kayaker, and jogger. Those who knew him remember his kindness, warmth, and the joy he brought to every gathering. Ritchie was the beloved son of the late Margaret Swinerton-Palmer and Sandy Palmer. He is now reunited with his dear parents, sister Sandra Fucci, and brother-in-law Gabe Fucci. He leaves behind his cherished daughter Leah Quinn, son-in-law Michael Quinn, and beloved grandchildren Liam and Brendan Quinn. He is also survived by his extended family, including the O’Brien, Fucci, and Lewis families, and his former wife, Carol Russo. Ritchie will be remembered for his generous spirit, sense of humor, and deep love for family and friends—a life well-lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him. A memorial service celebrating Ritchie’s life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Bethany Church, 2 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford, CT 06903. All are welcome to join in honoring and remembering this remarkable man. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Graves Medley Funeral Services, Inc. in Stamford, CT.
