In Loving Memory of Lucianie Icart December 9, 1931 – August 5, 2026 Lucianie Icart, affectionately known to many as Manman, Grandma, Gran, Great-Grandma, Ma tante, Tatie, and Sr Icart, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, at Stamford Hospital at the age of 94. Born on December 9, 1931, in Miragoâne, Haiti, Lucianie was the cherished daughter of the late Antonin Icart and Vernela Thomas. The youngest of seven children, she grew up in a close-knit family tradition that laid the foundation for her enduring faith, strength, and resilience. In 1982, Lucianie immigrated to the United States and settled in Stamford, Connecticut, where she made her home for over four decades. She was a hard-working and dedicated employee at the Stamford Marriott Hotel, serving as a housekeeper until her retirement in 1993. Following her retirement, Lucianie poured her heart into her true calling: caring for her family, serving her community, and deepening her spiritual life. For Lucianie, family had no boundaries. She was the heart not only of her nuclear family, but also of a vast extended and blended family network. She lovingly stepped into the vital role of helping raise her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the children of dear friends, creating a welcoming home filled with warmth, wisdom, and unconditional acceptance. A woman of deep, steadfast faith, Lucianie devoted her life to God and her spiritual community. As a true sister in Christ (Sr Icart), her welcoming heart, generosity, and quiet strength made her an adopted mother to so many in her church family. She was a cherished matriarch, well-known and deeply loved by every person who had the blessing of crossing her path. Lucianie was predeceased by her parents, Antonin and Vernela; all six of her siblings: Andre Icart, Elitaine Icart, Enord Moise, Carmen Icart, Simond Icart, and Princess Moise; as well as her beloved son, Eden Benoit, and her cherished grandson, Jean-Marc Benoit, with whom she is now peacefully reunited in eternal rest. She leaves behind a rich and beautiful legacy that spans generations and international borders. Lucianie is survived by her loving daughter, Ingrid Benoit Louis (Erick Fleurissaint), and her daughter-in-law, Wendy Deonanan Benoit. She will be forever remembered by her grandchildren: Dafnee Dominique Louis, Daniel Yves Louis, Kenneth David Louis (Janet Haas), and Alexa Gabrielle Benoit; and her precious great-grandson, Kameron David Louis. She is also survived by her cherished nieces and nephews: Litha Icart (Marie) and her children, Jeanna Icart (Quenol Forvil) and children, Meritemene Icart Brice (Badinal) and children, Adna Jean and children, and Evans Laroche, his wife, and children; alongside many other dear nieces and nephews residing throughout the United States, Canada, Haiti, and France. Her memory is equally cherished by her blended and extended family: Caroline Benoit Maignan (Jean-Claude) and children, Anne-Marie Glena Benoit and children, Michele Benoit, Wiliana Fleurissaint (Jean-Gardy) and child, John-Wolsey Fleurissaint, Guy-Steven Fleurissaint, and Fleurette Fleurissaint Cradock (Sir Cameron) and children. Lucianie also leaves behind her devoted church family, to whom she was a faithful spiritual mother and a constant source of grace. “Her love, faith, and memory live on in the hearts of all who called her Manman, Grandma, Tatie, and friend.” Memorial Contributions In lieu of flowers, and in accordance with Lucianie’s wishes, donations may be made in her honor to: Haitian Catholic Community of Stamford (Quasi Parish Notre-Dame Du Perpétuel Secours) Visitation will be held on Friday August 21st, 2026, from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Graves Medley Funeral Services: 31 Stillwater Ave, Stamford, CT. A service of celebration will be on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026, starting at 9:00 AM at St. Gabriel Church: 948 Newfield Ave, Stamford, CT 06905, the interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery.
