Lessie Ruth Redfearn

“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.” Lessie Ruth Redfearn transitioned this life on the morning of December 31st, 2022, at the Nathaniel Witherell Nursing Home in Greenwich, CT. She was loved and cared for by an excellent staff and was visited by the Sachs family on a continuous basis. Lessie was born on February 2, 1930 in Chesterfield, South Carolina. She was the second youngest child born to Ed and Hattie Redfearn. Lessie came from a family of 18 children, of which a total of 11 survived. She and her siblings were raised in Chesterfield, South Carolina, She eventually moved with her mother to Baltimore, MD, where most of her siblings were living. At a very early age, Lessie gave her life to Christ and was forever dedicated. Wherever she lived, she was always very active in the ministry. Lessie joined the Community Tabernacle over 25 years ago, and her favorite role was to take care of the Pastor. She was a true role model as a church mother in Zion, and everybody called her Mother Redfearn. She had a true love and respect for everyone around her, especially her pastor and church community. She became the pastor’s aid more than 25 years ago, and she always made sure the Pastor was well prepared and taken care of. Lessie lived a wonderful life. She loved to travel and worked her way across the country including cooking for families in Denver, Washington D.C., Kentucky, and finally New York and CT with the Sachs family. She remained part of the Sachs family for over 38 years. She helped raise and take care of the three Sachs children: Michael, Katharine, and Christina. She was active and involved in their lives daily,and was deeply adored and loved by them all. She leaves to cherish her memories: all of her dear family, all the Sachs family, her special friend Lilly Williams, her church family, and all those whose lives she has touched, for anyone that was touched by Lessie will cherish those moments forever. Visitation will take place Friday January 6 ,2023 from 10:00AM - 11:00AM followed by a service of celebration at 11:00AM.
