Lemar Edwards

Lemar Edwards "Lee," was born on April 20, 1938, in Lumpkin, Georgia, to the late Calip Edwards and Louise Walton Edwards. On Thursday, June 25, 2026, he peacefully answered the Master's call and entered into eternal rest. Lee's journey began in Georgia and continued throughout his childhood in Florida. In 1965, he relocated to Stamford, Connecticut, where he established the life he cherished. A man of unwavering faith and a strong work ethic, he dedicated more than 30 years of faithful service to Pitney Bowes before retiring. Never one to remain idle, he continued serving his community by working at the local farmers market, where his warm spirit and friendly presence were appreciated by many. A man of few words, Lee found joy in simply being among others. His quiet strength, gentle nature, and kind heart brought comfort to all who knew him. He was a devoted father, a proud grandfather, a loyal friend, and a steadfast presence whose love was expressed through his actions. His life was a testimony of humility, perseverance, and quiet dignity. He was preceded in death by his parents, Calip Edwards and Louise Walton Edwards; his brothers, First Sergeant (Ret.) James Edwards, John Edwards, Lemroy Edwards, and Julius Edwards; and his sisters, Wisie Mae Bell, Willie L. Eley, Ossie Bell Paine, Dorothy R. Ward, Margaret A. Jerome, and Louise Thomas. He leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving children: Angela Lavine (David) of Ashburn, Virginia; Delores Ghant of Stamford, Connecticut; Marilyn Ghant of Stamford, Connecticut; and James Ghant of Stamford, Connecticut. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren: LaRhonda Lavine of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Alyssa Lavine of Ashburn, Virginia; David Lavine, Jr. of West Point, New York; Robin Ghant of Stamford, Connecticut; and Shacorya Johnson. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Mackey (Eugene) of Sanford, Florida; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends who will forever treasure his memory. Though his voice is now silent, the legacy of the life he lived continues to speak through the love he shared, the example he set, and the countless lives he touched. His quiet strength and gentle spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life honoring Lee's life will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Graves-Medley Funeral Services, Stamford, Connecticut. Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. In accordance with the family's wishes, there will be no repast following the funeral service. The family will be observing private time together and respectfully request privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved father and loved one.
