Henry Hunter

Henry Hunter affectionately known as "Hank or Buddy" was born January 1st, 1937 in Stamford, CT to the late William Hunter Sr. and Mae Belle Jamison Hunter. On Sunday, October 8, 2023 Henry was called home at the age of 86. Hank received his education in the Stamford public school system. Soon after graduation he enlisted into the United States Airforce where he served in the Vietnam War. He served his country proudly. For 10 years he was an Aircraft Electronic System Technician. Also Hank served as a Maintenance Manager Superintendent for 16 years. He retired after 26 years of duty as a Master Sargent E7 in 1981. He received quite a few medals such as, The Meritorious Service medal, The Airforce Commendation medal, The Army Good Conduct medal with 1 bronze loop. The Airforce Longevity Service medal, The National Defense Service medal, The Vietnam Service medal, The Airforce Good Conduct medal with 1 silver oak leaf cluster, Airforce Out Standing Unit Award with 2 devices, A Ribbon with 1 silver oak cluster and The Missile Man's Badge. He then returned to Stamford Ct, to live out his life. Hank was known for his intelligence, wit and laid-back personality. He had a passion for fishing, reading and most definitely bowling. He enjoyed bowling on The Brother's 5 Team with his brothers. They competed in Nationals for 21 years together. He leaves to cherish his memories: his 3 sisters; Florence McDougal Brooks, Nancy Shinn and Lorraine Hunter-Brown (Kevin) His 3 brothers; Donald Hunter (Shirley), Larry Hunter and Leonard Hunter (Mary Ellen). His Uncle Edmond Jamison Jr. , Sister -n-Law Leslie Hunter, God children; Ranceen Hunter, Leniece Hunter, Henry A. Hunter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his parents William Hunter Sr. and Mae Belle Hunter, and brothers William Hunter Jr, Ronald Hunter Sr, Robert Hunter and Randolph A. Hunter. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, followed by a service of celebration at 11:00 am at Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 29 Grove St., Stamford, CT., Rev. Dr. Joseph G. Ford officiating. Interment will take place on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. Services entrusted to Graves Medley Funeral Services.
