Genova Tyree Goodson

Genova Tyree Stoudimire Goodson affectionately known as GG and Nova by her dear grandmother, was called to eternal rest, peacefully, on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at home in Atlanta, Georgia. She was born on July 5, 1981 at 12:48 a.m. as a Preemie that weighed only 2 pounds (1060 grams) in Yale New Haven Connecticut Hospital. She was the daughter of Steve Phillips (Andalusia, Alabama) and the late Tammy Denise Stoudimire Rowell (Stamford, Ct) and the step daughter of Mr. KKenneth Rowell (Sumter, South Carolina). Genova attended Wilson Memorial, COGIC under the leadership of Bishop Charles Henry Brewer, Jr. during her early church years and always attended Sunday School. In Atlanta, she attended Hillcrest Church Of Christ, 1939 Snapfinger Road in Decatur, Georgia for several years under the leadership of Pastor Torian Salary. She was educated within the Stamford Public School System. After graduation, she attended Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia and majored in general studies. Genova worked for several years at the Hilton Hotel and Resort in Atlanta, Georgia as a manager until illness incapacitated her. Genova always supported her daughters, Janiya and Medinah (GeeGee) in their dance troupe Preciousus Pearls as they traveled to different states to compete and sometimes win against other dance troupe. She was an avid lover of animals and loved to rescue dogs of any breed. Sadly, she will be missed by her dog Tebo. She had two birds named Hansel & Gretel. Additionally, she adopted a rabbit named Lovey from her middle school and was also quite fond of hamsters. What a charming contagious smile and personality she was blessed with. No matter what kind of day she was having, her presence always lit up the room when she walked in. She exemplified love toward family and friends because she was a strong individual. She always made adverse situations and challenges work with ample resources making sure she supported her daughters endeavors. Genova leaves to cherish fond memories, her beloved mother/grandmother Mary Brown, her father Steve Phillips (Michelle) of (Andalusia, Alabama), step father Kenneth Rowell (Sabrina) of Sumter, South Carolina. Her grandmother Ella Mae Stoudimire of Opp, Alabama. Two daughters, Janiya Stoudimire and Medinah (Gee Gee) Stoudimire both of Atlanta, Georgia. Three brothers, Chad and Rico Phillips both of Andalusia, Alabama and Travion Phillips of Sacramento, California. An uncle, Bobby Moore (Darlene) of Staten Island, NY. A great aunt, Eunice Whitley of Stamford, Ct. Three great uncles, Roy Lee Bell and Lester Lee Brannon (Janice) both of Opp, Alabama and Ray Mack Brannon of Fleming Island, Florida. Two special sister/cousins Jacqueline Henderson Jackson (Paul) Atlanta, Georgia, and Takara Whitley of Stamford, CT. One special brother/cousin Soccus (Sockie) Henderson (Tomika) and special cousin Niambi Moore of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Samuel Phills, a future cousin to be of Stamford, Ct and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends. Genova was preceded in death by her mother Tammy Denise Stoudimire Rowell (1995), father/grandfather Elder Kenneth Allen Brown (2020) her great grandmother Lillie Mae Brannon (2011) and great uncle Tony Whitley (2020). Two uncles, Jahova Brannon (2015) and Clemmie Henderson (2020) and great Aunt Myra Brannon (2000). Two cousins Eric Henderson (2009) and Imani Joyner (2007). Memorial service will be held on Wednesday December 28th 2022 at 11:00AM at Wilson Memorial COGIC 164 Richmond Hill Ave., Stamford, CT. with Bishop Charles H. Brewer III Eulogist. Inurnment took place at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien, CT.
