Elizabeth Jackson

Obituary Elizabeth (Queenie) Lewis Jackson was born in Camden, Alabama on November 19, 1935, the eighth child of fifteen, to the late Ben and Daisy Lee Fairley Lewis. She departed this life on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Norwalk Hospital. At an early age she joined the St. James A.M.E. Church and served faithfully as Secretary of the Sunday School and sang in the choir. After completing high school and two years of college, she moved to New York and was baptized into the Baptist faith. In 1959 she moved to Norwalk, CT where she joined the Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend S.J. Williams. She joined many committees, Pastor’s Aide Ministry, Thursday Afternoon Bible Study, Sunday School, and she was President of the Sanctuary Choir for 31 years. Resigned in 2017. In 1961, she married the late Clard Jackson, Sr. together they had one daughter, Brenda Jackson and one son, Clard Jackson, Jr. She retired after 24 years as Supervising Teacher for Neon Development Program. She enjoyed going out with the seniors and friends, watching her favorite T.V. shows and spending time with family. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Jackson of Suitland, MD and son, Clard Jackson, Jr. of Upper Marlboro, MD. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jessica and Justin Jackson of Norwalk, CT, Matthew and Danielle Jackson of Suitland, MD. One great grandchild Wyatt Anderson of Norwalk, CT. Three sisters, Claudine Davis of Bridgeport, CT, Daisy Lewis of Queens, NY and Mary Clancy of Paterson, NJ. One sister-in-law Diane Lewis of Norwalk, CT and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clard Jackson, Sr. Her six brothers, Reverend John V. Lewis, Willie Lewis, Reverend P.H. Lewis, Ottis Lewis, Ben Lewis, Jr. and Floyd Lewis and three sisters, Maggie Osborne, Juanita Lewis, Dorothy Lewis. Her daughter-in-law Rhonda Jackson, son-in-law Willie Gilliam and her goddaughter Kurtrina Lewis. Visitation will be held on Saturday January 20th, 2024 from 9:00AM - 10:00AM followed by a service of celebration at 10:00AM at Calvary Baptist Church ,21 Concord St. Norwalk, CT. Interment will follow at MT. Grove Cemetery, Easton, CT.
