Mrs. Sheila Patrice Williams

July 19, 1946 - February 11, 2020

Sheila Patrice Gleaton Williams of Norwalk, CT went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 11, 2020 at home, after a long illness, surrounded by her loved ones. Sheila was born in Stamford, CT on July 19, 1946 daughter of the late Nathan and Carnell (Connie) Gleaton. She was educated in the Stamford public school system and graduated from J.M. Wright Technical High School in 1964. In 1967, she met and married the love of her life, Leroy Williams Jr. They remained married for 52 wonderful years. Sheila and Leroy settled in Norwalk and started their family. This union produced one son, Lance. Sheila often said that she loved her son more than life itself. Sheila was a long-time member of Bethel AME Church in Bridgeport, CT. where she proudly served as a missionary. Sheila truly loved the Lord and attended church regularly until she became ill. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society of Bridgeport, CT. Sheila was employed by Data Switch of Norwalk, and later Shelton for over 20 years. She took great pride in her work as a supervisor at the company until her retirement. After her retirement Sheila became a homemaker and worked tirelessly to take care of her ailing mother. She loved her family and would often reminisce about what an honor it was to provide good care for her mother in her final days. Sheila was an avid and competitive bingo player. She loved the comradery of joining her friends at the casino to play bingo as often as she could. Sheila is survived by her husband, Leroy Williams Jr. of Norwalk, her son Lance (Roxanne) Williams of West Haven and her caregiver, Beula Carter. She is predeceased by her parents, Nathan and Carnell Gleaton, her brother, Nathaniel Gleaton, a nephew Darrell Gleaton and a niece, Berthenia Gleaton. Services will take place on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Bethel AME Church in Norwalk, CT. Visitation from 10:00AM - 11:00AM followed by a service of celebration at 11:00AM. Entombment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Norwalk, CT., immediately following the service. Repast to follow at Bethel AME Church, 19 Academy, Norwalk, CT. Services entrusted to Graves Medley Funeral Services.
