Pearl Scates Pearl Scates, age 89, transitioned peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2019. She was born on January 29, 1929 in Kershaw County, South Carolina to the late Bogis Blanding and Ella Baskin Blanding . Pearl received her Licensed Practical Nurse Certificate from the State of Connecticut Department of Education Program through Stamford Hospital in 1960. Her nurturing, compassionate servitude will be long remembered. Her legacy of love will be treasured by her son James E. Scates, Jr. and his wife Deborah K. Scates, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends. She was also predeceased by her son David A. Scates and brother John H. Blanding. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. followed by a service of celebration at 11:00 a.m. at Union Baptist Church, 805 Newfield Ave., Stamford, CT with Rev. Dr. Robert W. Perry officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Services entrusted to Graves Medley Funeral Services.
