Mary Lois Cherry Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mary Lois Cherry, age 79, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2021 at Stamford Hospital. She was born on August 31, 1942 in Cameron, North Carolina to the late Marcellus Chalmers and Fannie Margaret Hailey Chalmers. She retired from Shaw Mudge & Company after thirty years of service and served as a Bus Monitor for First Student Bus Company where she devoted time and love to nurturing and caring for the well-being of children. This gentle, loving matriarch has left a permanent mark etched on the hearts of all who knew her and will be supremely missed by her husband, Clarence Otis Cherry, her daughter, Sharon Byrd and her husband Buford Byrd, four sons; four sons; Michael Cherry, Ray Cherry and spouse Kevin Kim, Eric Cherry and his wife Marilyn Cherry and Nicholas Spezzano-Cherry, eleven adored grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two sisters; Shirley Wright and her husband Nathaniel Wright and Regina McAuley, one brother; Ronnie Chalmers and his wife Almarie Chalmers and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Union Baptist Church, 805 Newfield Ave., Stamford, CT. with Rev. Carleton J. Giles officiating. Concluding services will take place in Vass, North Carolina on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 11:00 am at Frys Chapel Baptist Church, Vass, North Carolina followed by interment at Fryes Chapel Cemetery. Services entrusted to Graves Medley Funeral Services and Knotts Funeral Home.
