Binnie Davis Sr. of Stamford, CT entered into his eternal rest, unexpectedly on September 19, 2021. He was the eighth and last child born to the late Charlie and Lue Ella Carpenter Davis on August 7, 1946, in Gordo, Alabama. Binnie was raised in a Christian home and confessed his faith in Jesus Christ at an early age, and joined Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Gordo, Alabama. Binnie was educated in the Pickens County school system, graduating high school in 1965 from Oaklane High. That same year, Binnie was drafted into the United States Army where he served with honor until 1967. He returned to Gordo for a short time before relocating to Stamford, CT where he remained until his passing. Binnie began his career at Electrolux followed by Connecticut Light & Power finally retiring from The New York Daily News in 2016 spanning over 45 years of employment. Binnie has two children, Binnie Davis, Jr. (Bora) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Shirlyn Davis of Stamford, CT along with one grandson, Adonis of Atlanta, Georgia. Binnie’s hobbies were motorcycle riding, car racing, refurbishing old cars, spending quality time with family and friends. He was a faithful and active member of Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Stamford, CT holding a number of positions that included but were not limited to the trustee, president of the usher ministry, Driver for the Nursing Home Ministry, and the Men’s Ministry and Marshal in the Westchester United Ushers Assembly Marshall. Binnie was a true man of God with a loving smile that could light up a room, an infectious laugh, and someone who was always eager to help those in need. Binnie was predeceased by his sister Olivia Maye Smith and brother, John Wesley Davis. Binnie leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Binnie Jr. (Bora) and Shirlyn; grandson, Adonis; sisters, Mittie Bell Gay of Northport, Alabama, Annice Agusta Davis of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Dorothy Biggs of Hartford, CT; brothers, Hayes Davis of Gordo, Alabama, Charles Davis of Bloomfield, CT, Devoted and supportive friend, Dorothy Ghant along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 from 9:30AM - 11:00AM followed by a service of celebration at 11:00AM at Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 29 Grove St. Stamford, CT. 06902 Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien, CT.
