Alton Purefoy, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 5, 2021 at Norwalk Hospital. Mr. Purefoy was born in Chapel Hill, NC on August 17, 1940 to the late Alton and Sophia Purefoy. He was the oldest of ten children. Alton (affectionately known as AL), was a devoted husband, a great father and grandfather. He truly did love his family, especially his grand kids. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Elva, three children; Sholen Powe, Atlanta, GA. (Monique Powe, Norwalk, CT.), daughters; Valorie Little, Atlanta, GA. And Vohronda Edwards, Chapel Hill, NC., eight grandchildren; Jason Hall, Ryan Little, Asisa Leach, Nneka Little, Raquel Powe, Saige Bryan, Marcus Edwards, and Bryan Powe, four great-grands and one great-great grand, two brothers from Bridgeport, CT; Henry (Indra) Purefoy and James Purefoy, Sr. (Denise), five sisters from Chapel Hill and Raleigh, NC., Elizabeth P. Williams, Shirley P. Bradshaw (Bobby), Carol P. Brooks, Jeanette P. Boone and Virginia P. Jones, one brother-in-law, David Alton, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Gloria Jean Alston, one brother, Samuel Purefoy, one aunt, Willie Mae Patterson. AL retired from ASML (formerly Perkin-Elmer) after numerous years. He enjoyed watching all sports; baseball, basketball, football, wrestling, and hockey. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 from 10:00AM – 11:00AM followed by a service of celebration at 11:00AM at Grace Baptist Church, 17 West Avenue, Norwalk, CT. with the Rev. Dr. Lindsey E. Curtis officiating. Interment will be private.
