Verline S. Morrison

Verline Sistrunk Morrison, beloved wife of the late Herman Morrison and daughter of the late Beulah Addison Sistrunk and Johnson Sistrunk, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, in Stamford, Connecticut, at the age of 92. Verline was a loving, kind-hearted, and hardworking woman who was deeply admired by all who knew her. She had a remarkable gift for making others feel valued and cared for, and she returned the love and admiration she received with warmth, generosity, and grace. Her gentle spirit, unwavering dedication, and genuine compassion touched countless lives. Born on April 27, 1934, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Verline later relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she began building a life marked by perseverance, faith, and service to others. She became a devoted and loyal school and domestic worker, nurturing, mentoring, and caring for numerous children throughout her life. Her dedication to family, community, and the well-being of others was evident in everything she did. A woman of strong faith, Verline was a longtime and devoted member of Woodland Presbyterian Church, where she found fellowship, strength, and spiritual guidance. In addition to her husband and parents, Verline was preceded in death by her sister, Daisy Keitt, and her brothers, David Lee Addison, Albert Sistrunk, Kelley Sistrunk, William Sistrunk, and Henry Sistrunk. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Thelma (Mark) Davis Lyde; four grandsons, David (Jessica) Davis, Gardtrell Davis III, Shawn (Jamielle) Davis, and Shane Davis; three great-granddaughters, Jordan Simone Davis, Makayla Carmen and Janae Carmen; and three great-grandsons, Jayden Davis, Derek Davis and Cameron Carmen. She is also survived by her brothers, Isiah (Terry) Sistrunk and John (Judy) Sistrunk; her sisters, Earline Rogers, Rev. Inez Esaw Donelson, Thelma Wright, and Martha (William) Bonilla; and her beloved aunt, Clara Witherspoon. Verline also leaves behind a host of cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends throughout the United States and Germany, who will forever treasure her memory. She held a special place in her heart for her godchildren, Shiniaya Adams, Clint Adams, and Cheyenne Adams, whom she loved dearly. Verline's legacy of love, faith, kindness, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 from 11:00AM - 12:00PM followed by a service of celebration at 12:00PM at Graves Medley Funeral Services, 31 Stillwater Ave., Stamford, CT. Interment will be held in Charlotte, NC. on June 13, 2026
