Odessa Farrow

Odessa “Duck” Bennett, of Stamford, Connecticut, entered eternal rest on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Stamford Hospital. Odessa was born on May 16, 1938, to the late Percy Peele and Ophelia Bennett Taylor in Williamston, North Carolina. Due to illness, Odessa’s mother passed. She and her sisters were raised by Reese Bennett Brown in Williamston, NC. Odessa attended and graduated from E. J. Hayes School, formerly known as “Williamston Colored School”, in 1958. Odessa, moved to Stamford, CT in the early sixties. She worked various jobs including the Social Services department of Stamford, Ct. She joined Faith Missionary Baptist Church in the mid-sixties, where she remained a member until her earthly departure. She met Leroy Farrow, and they were married in April 1975, until his death in September 1978. Odessa was known for her love for God, her caring nature, her selfless willingness to feed, help, or take in anyone who was in need. She became a 2nd mother to many many people. But “Ole Duckie”, was known for her feisty spirit, quick tongue, her will-not-take-your-mess nature, and her Railroad Mill Sweet! She loved to cook, fish, and travel for family gatherings. Odessa was predeceased by both of her parents, her sister, Algie Mae Bridgette of Hampton VA, and her brothers Pastor Willie Taylor Sr. of Greenville, NC, and Deacon Harry Ewell (Deaconess Glores) of Bridgeport, CT. Odessa is survived by 3 sisters, Helen Bennett -Stamford Ct, Ann Peele (Robert) Chesapeake, Va, and Sylvia Cherry (Clarence) of Raleigh, NC, 1 Sister in Law – Faye Taylor of Bethesda MD, 1 brother – Percy Peele Jr. Norfolk, VA; 3 children – Overseer Tyrone Bennett (Shirelle) of Columbia, MD, Deirdre Bennett of Stamford, CT, and Randy V. Farrow of Stamford, CT, 1 special daughter – Tina Rush of Stamford, CT; 10 Grandchildren, 12 Great-Grandchildren, and 1 Great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held on Monday December 22, 2025 from 10:00AM – 11:00AM followed by a service of celebration at 11:00AM at Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 29 Grove St., Stamford, CT. Interment will follow
