Mattie Lou Lawson-Eaddy

Mattie Lou Lawson-Eaddy (Honey) November 10, 1929 – March 3, 2025 Mattie Eaddy was born to Anna Mae and Arthur Lawson on November 10, 1929 during the great depression. She grew up in Donora, PA with her 3 brothers and 3 sisters until she married Walter J. Eaddy of Florence, SC in 1947. They moved to Norwalk, CT in 1962 with their five children. Mattie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cherished member of the community. She was a faithful woman and a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church of Norwalk where she served on the funeral committee and where she built the foundation for her family to learn how to trust in the Lord. Mattie also did domestic work to help support her family. She was a diligent homemaker and kept her home extremely clean. She would make everything from scratch from biscuits, to dumplings, to fried apple pies and like Jesus, she could feed a crowd with just 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread. Mattie also nurtured many of her nieces and nephews who came from Pennsylvania to work during summer vacations in Connecticut. Family and friends always looked forward to visiting the Eaddys’ house for good food and for great family fellowship. Mattie also is known as Muh, Grammaw, Nana and Honey and she leaves to cherish three daughters, JoAnn Dudley of Duquesne, PA, Carolyn Eaddy of New York and Arlene Eaddy of Norwalk, CT, a son, David J. Eaddy of Chicago, IL and predeceased son, Rev. Robert J. Eaddy; three grandchildren, Jocelyn Dudley of PA, Nicole' Eaddy of CT and Cicily Eaddy of NC. One great-grandson Gregory Lammar Cash of FL and a great-granddaughter Chyanne Thorne of CT, five great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Mattie was 95 years of blessings and the last of her siblings. She was predeceased by her husband and her youngest son. Ms. Mattie will always be the honored matriarch of our family and will be truly missed. Visitation will be held on Friday March 14, 2025 from 10:00AM - 11:00AM followed by a service of celebration at 11:00AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 21 Concord St., Norwalk, CT. Officiant: Rev. Carleton J. Giles Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Norwalk, CT.
