Marshall Mobley

Our beloved Marshall Mobley fell asleep in death Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 6:10 pm. Marshall was born October 9, 1938 in Unadilla, Georgia to the late James and Alphonso Mobley. He came from a large family of 10 brothers and sisters. His Mom used to say “you can’t throw a rock without hitting a Mobley or a dog.” As a youth Marshall attended schools in Dooley County, Georgia. Marshall graduated from Vienna High and Industrial School, as the valedictorian of his senior class. After graduation he attended a Junior College in St. Petersburg, Florida. Shortly thereafter he joined the United States Army and served until he was honorably discharged. After his discharge from military service, Marshall migrated to Connecticut where he was employed at Pepperidge Farm. He began his career at Pepperidge in the test kitchen but moved to sales where he worked as a District Sales Manager and Accounts Manager until his retirement after 24 years of service. One of the best days of Marshall’s life was when he married Ellen Davis Middleton on July 23, 1978. They were loving companions for 45 years in which they shared a love for Jehovah, travel and visiting family and friends. Marshall became a baptized member of the Jehovah Witnesses organization on June 16, 1993. He spiritually progressed and matured to becoming an Elder in which he encouraged and shepherded many in the Norwalk congregation. He never said no when he was needed; you just had to say “can you and he would respond. Marshall had a love for sharing Bible truths with others. He loved the full time ministry, especially the door to door service. It is in this aspect of the ministry that Marshall made many lifelong spiritual brothers and sisters. His love for family was undeniable. Besides his loving wife, Ellen, he leaves to cherish in his loving memory his five children; Brett Middleton (Peggy), Kimberlee Outlaw (Brian), Sean Mobley, and Ryan Mobley (Almarie) and Carl Mobley, who he loved dearly. Sean says “dad was sincere and straight forward in giving guidance to his kids. He said what he meant and meant what he said, yet he never made you feel bad.” He was dearly loved by his eleven grandchildren. They enjoyed his witty sense of humor and how easy it was to talk with him. Each one knew they could call on Popup for anything at any time. They respected and adored him, as did his sister; Dorothy West (Melvin) and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters; Rose Mary Mobley and Lena Horne Stern, six brothers; Leroy Mobley, Milton Lewis Mobley, Calvin Lee Mobley, Thomas Alexander Mobley, Samuel Sebastian Mobley and Ronald Eugene Mobley. Marshall enjoyed riding roller coasters at the amusement park, music, crossword puzzles, old westerns, and traveling to visit family and friends. He loved a good game of Bid Whist. When it came to sports, he loved watching the Dodgers, the Giants ant the Knicks, but not always the Giants and Knicks. He was an amazing person; his debonair attire matched his upright character. He was dearly loved by so many people. All are saddened by the loss of this gentleman, “a cool dude” and a genuinely nice man! He brought praise to the God he loved. Those who live on Neptune Avenue will miss him, one of his neighbors said “he was a friend with an awesome smile and amazing laugh. His love for his family, especially his children and grandchildren is the stuff movies are made from “says Gretchen LeBlanc a longtime neighbor. In lieu of flowers, please make monetary donations to Mrs. Ellen Mobley. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 6:00 pm at Graves Medley Funeral Services, 31 Stillwater Ave., Stamford, CT., followed by a memorial service on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 3:30 pm at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 16 Newtown Ave., Norwalk, CT. Interment will be private.
