Ike A. Brown

OBITUARY With grateful hearts for a life well-lived, we celebrate the home going of Ike A. Brown, who departed this earthly journey on September 3, 2025, at the age of 69. Born in Williston, South Carolina, Ike was the beloved son of the late Ruthie Mae Brown and Ike Brown. From his earliest days, he embodied the values of faith, service, and love for family—values that guided him throughout his life. Ike faithfully served his country and was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in 1976. He later enjoyed a long and dedicated career with AT&T, retiring in 2021. Beyond his professional life, Ike’s heart was devoted to serving God and his community. Since 2015, he was a proud member of Grace Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as Chairman of the Trustee Ministry, offering both leadership and kindness to all who worshipped alongside him. Ike’s true joy was found in his family. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Unay Addison Brown; his loving daughter, Zerina Faith Brown; his cherished grandson, Sevyn Michael Lyde; his bonus son, Brandon Gross; his brother, Forrest McClendon of Lancaster, PA; and his sisters, Ruth E. Brown and Thomasina McClendon, both of Norwalk, CT. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who were all touched by his generosity and kindness. Ike was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers: Wilbur Brown (Brenda), Fletcher Brown, Charles E. Brown, Matt C. Brown, and Eldridge McClendon. A true jack of all trades, Ike developed expertise in electrical work and automotive repair, whether fixing an engine or rewiring a home, Ike approached every task with care and craftsmanship. His skills have helped countless people over the years, and he is known for being someone you can always count on. Ike loved boat rides, family gatherings, cruising to NYC, gardening, fishing, cooking and baking. Known affectionately as “The Cake Man,” Ike’s cakes brought joy to every celebration, and his kitchen was often filled with the sweet aroma of his creations. Beyond his talent, it was his giving spirit, making sure everyone was cared for—that left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His presence brought comfort, his laughter brought joy, and his faith gave strength to those blessed to share in his life. Ike’s life can be summed up in three words: God, Family, and Friends. His journey was one of service, love, and unwavering devotion. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. “Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” (Matthew 25:23) Visitation will be held on Friday September 12, 2025 from 10:00AM - 11:00AM followed by a service of celebration at 11:00AM at Grace Baptist Church, 17 West Ave., Norwalk, CT.
