Hazelene Motley

Heaven has gained an angel. Hazelene Motley of Stratford, Ct transitioned from this life on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Hazelene was born on November 27, 1946, in Fayetteville, NC to the late Nealie and Bertha Bethea Elliott. Hazelene was educated in the Cumberland County public schools’ system. As a young adult, she relocated to Stamford, Connecticut in the mid 1960’s. Hazelene worked for various companies in the Stamford area before becoming a home maker and raising her family. Hazelene accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a devoted member of Union Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Andre Bradley, Senior Pastor. She was an incredible woman who loved God, and whose faith in God was exceptionally strong. She left a mark on the heart and lives of those who knew her. She had great love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; She was a lover of family, a matriarch at that. Hazelene was married to the love of her life, McCoy Motley, for thirty-seven wonderful years. He pre-deceased her in life. Her memories will be cherished by two daughters, Carolyn McMichael and Drucilla Breece, four sons, Leamon Breece Jr., Tyrone Motley, Timothy Motley, McCoy Motley Jr., Two sisters, Betty Breece (Frank), Shirley Johnson (AC), four brothers, Calvin Elliott (Bo), Milton Elliott, Michael Elliott, and Ronnie Elliott, and one uncle, Bishop E.W. David Elliott, five grandchildren, Tommy McMichael Jr. (Crystal), Lashanda Taylor, Joseph McMichael, Tammy McMichael, and Tyrone C. Motley, two great-grandchildren, Taylor Romeo and Zoe McMichael, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Hazelene was pre-deceased by her parents, one sister, Willie Mae Goodwin, three Brothers, Richard Elliott, James (Coot) Elliott, and Oscar Elliott. She fought a good fight, she finished her course, she kept the faith. Hazel can say, “Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8 Visitation will be held on Thursday January 8, 2026 from 10:00AM – 11:00 AM followed by a service of celebration at 11:00AM at Union Baptist Church, 805 Newfield Ave., Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Bridgeport, CT.
