Craig Ronald Birch

Craig Ronald Birch; father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, quietly passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024 in Stamford Hospital. He was born October 31, 1954, in Stamford, CT to the late Evoria Inez Harrell Birch and Calvin Sylvester Birch, Sr. He received his primary education in the Stamford school system and graduated from Rippowam High School in 1972. He later served in the United States Air Force upon graduation. Craig held various positions in his employment including Metro-North Railroad and most recently as a concierge for a local luxury apartment building. He was always a diligent employee and enjoyed working. His employers knew him to be committed and dependable. Craig enjoyed his family, especially spending time with his dad and brothers as they had a special relationship that bonded them forever. They would always greet one another with a special head rub anytime they saw each other, no matter where they were. They shared many family memories and laughter while reminiscing of their childhood. Craig was an avid reader and loved working on crossword puzzles and watching sports. Although he did not have a favorite team, he enjoyed all sports and would watch them with his dad and brothers. He also shared a special bond with his nieces and nephews and had unique nicknames for each of them. He especially enjoyed playing cards and hanging out with friends at the local Elks’ club. Craig was a kind, generous, loving person. He was always willing to lend a hand to help in all situations. He enjoyed seeing others happy; that was always his happy place. Craig is survived by his daughter, Kristin Yates (Hakim) and granddaughter, Hailynn Yates, of Baltimore, MD; two sisters, Tina and Darlene Birch; and a brother, Keith Birch, all of Stamford, CT; his stepmother, Geraldine Birch, of Jersey City, NJ; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and a caring friend, Mrs. Audry Simmons, of Stamford, CT. He is predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Bruce Payne, Calvin S. Birch, Jr. and Alonzo White. Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 17th, 2024 from 12:00PM - 1:00PM followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00PM at Graves Medley Funeral Services, 31 Stillwater Ave., Stamford, CT. Interment is private.
