Catherine Elizabeth Hornyak

Catherine E. Deflorio-Hornyak Born 3/11/1962 Passed away on July 10th, 2021 at age 59. She was a lifelong Norwalk native with a deep love for the city. She grew up in East Norwalk by Long Island sound and loved the beach. Throughout her life, she enjoyed creating handmade arts & crafts while participating in many craft show events hosted in Norwalk over the years. she was part Native American and loved everything about the culture and went as far as getting beautiful tattoos adorning it. She was an extremely vibrant soul with an angelic smile that could electrify the presence of any. She was very family and friends oriented, she had a strong love especially for her grandchildren and always bestowed them gifts every birthday, holiday, and special occasion. She loved Halloween and Christmas the most those were her favorite holidays, she would always decorate her home for the occasion. She lived in Norwalk with her life partner and enjoyed going fishing, going to local music concerts, driving through calf pasture beach enjoying the breeze from the ocean, collecting seashells, going out to eat at the many great food establishments in Norwalk, and most of all being surrounded by family & friends. When she was younger, she enjoyed taking trips to other states and had a love for the forest. Her second love in life was her storefront that was located in Norwalk on Mulvey street “euphoria” second-hand shop. She sold many unique items from past-century antiques to rare collector pins and jewelry all the way to modern items such as appliances and clothing. She was a great mother, wife, and friend. She had a big heart and would help anyone in need, she was extremely friendly and could talk for hours with anyone that crossed her path. She had many friends that she would speak to often and loved using her cell phone to connect with those dearest to her. She had a love for music and enjoyed all genres. Catherine was a beautiful soul that enjoyed life to the fullest. Catherine was extremely close with her youngest son and shared a bond like no other, Catherine and her son William had the greatest mother/son bond imaginable. She was very loved by all her family and friends. she passed due to complications from covid-19. She transitioned to heaven with only immediate family at her bedside while her fiancé and son were holding her hands. Catherine was a daughter to late parents Joseph & Ruth DeFlorio, sister to her late brother Alphonse. She is survived by her long-time life partner and fiancé Steven, loving son William, his wife Maryanne & their 5 children, daughter Bonnie, along with 6 additional grandchildren from a person that will remain anonymous. Memorial/funeral services will be held privately. Burial will be private
