Alvin A Scully

Alvin Amin Scully transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Port Chester, New York, on September 4, 1980, to Brenda Scully and Anastacio Rodriguez. Alvin received his formal education in the Stamford public school system and later attended the University of Connecticut, where he pursued a degree in English. He was raised in New Rochelle, New York, and Stamford, Connecticut, and spent his later years living in Westport, Connecticut. From a young age, Alvin was known for his innocence, creativity, and joyful spirit. He loved dressing up as Superman with his cowboy boots, and spending time playing with his younger sisters. Those early years reflected the playful and imaginative nature that remained a part of him throughout his life. As an adult, Alvin was thoughtful, introspective, and deeply passionate about the things he loved. He was an avid reader who found comfort and inspiration in books, often visiting the library and exploring new stories. He enjoyed going to the movies and immersing himself in fantasy worlds such as Dungeons & Dragons and The Lord of the Rings. He also loved video games and valued the time he spent connecting and laughing with his longtime friends. After receiving his education, Alvin worked at Lord & Taylor and later at the Stamford Suites Hotel. He took pride in his work and the relationships he built along the way, until his health began to decline. Alvin had a deep love for the Lord and found strength in his faith. Every Saturday, he could be found faithfully participating in Bible study in his home. He especially admired King David and found great meaning and comfort in the Psalms, holding close the words of Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” He found joy in life’s simple and peaceful moments like spending time outdoors, caring for his chickens and ducks, and enjoying the companionship of his beloved cat, Cheeto. Alvin cherished his family deeply. He loved spending time with his aunts—Norma, Connie, Ana, and Sulma—his “Pop,” Anastacio, and his dedicated Bible study group, who became like family to him. His presence brought warmth, humor, and a quiet steadiness to those around him. Alvin leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Brenda Scully; his father, Anastacio Rodriguez; and his four siblings: Sheila Fernandez, Ari Hernandez, Ashley Scully, and Brianne Scully. He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces, Victoria Olivera and Sophia Fernandez, and his nephew, Andy Hernandez, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. Though Alvin has departed from this world, the love he shared, the faith he carried, and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. He will always be remembered as a gentle, humble, funny, and considerate soul whose life, in both quiet and meaningful ways, touched many. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from 10:00AM - 11:00AM followed by a service of celebration at 11:00AM at Union Baptist Church, 805 Newfield Ave., Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at Willowbrook Cemetery God’s Plan GOD saw he was getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So I asked God to take me home. So he put his arms around me and whispered, “Come with Me.” With tearful eyes, we watched him slowly fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands were put to rest, GOD broke our hearts to prove to us, HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST.
