Adell E. Arnold

Adell E. Arnold, born August 30, 1938 in Sardis, Alabama. She is the tenth of ten children born to the late George W. Evans and Adell Andrews-Evans. Adell attended grade school in Alabama, then moved to Connecticut where she attended Norwalk High for one year. She returned to Camden to graduate from Camden Academy High School with the class of 1957. While in school she met the love of her life Mack Arnold, Jr. They were united in holy matrimony and to this union they were blessed with two sons, Thurston Arnold of Kansas, Douglas Arnold of Miami, FL and one daughter, Edie James (Calvin) of Norwalk, CT. In addition to her 3 children, she had a special daughter Darlene Spence of Virginia Beach. Adell were the proud grandmother of seven: Nyiesha, Quentin, CJ, Drew, Monique, Alyssa & Gary and 11 great grandchildren: Zhayna, Anaysia, Nadira, Mya, Dijonn, Cali, Drew Jr., Dylan, Xavier, Carter, Omari. In addition to her children, she leaves to cherish her fond memories one sister: Clara Smith of Norwalk, CT three sisters in laws, Jane Mitchell of Hartford, CT, Rosemary Arnold of Camden, AL and Linda Arnold of Lansing, MI. God daughters Venita Anderson of Norwalk & Deanna Robinson of Bridgeport. She also cherished her longtime assistance, helper and caretaker. Mr. Calvin James her son and son-in-law. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A dedicated niece Pamela Moultrie of Norwalk and a devoted nephew James Moultry of Pensacola, FL. She was predeceased by eight Siblings: Leo Evans, Earnest Evans, Percy Evans, Ophelia Alexander, Esther Melvin Moultrie, Rosetta Hankins, Laura Rogers and Menerene E. Arnold. Among her many accomplishments she achieved her degree in early childhood Education from Norwalk Community College. She was a devoted member of Mt. Zion Baptist church for many decades where she served on the usher board and worked with the junior ushers. She was on the Mt. Zion Fashion Show committee for numerous years. She was the co-founder of the Norwalk Chapter of Camden Academy Alumni Association. Among her many hobbies doing crossword puzzles and walking was her favorites. Adell was a very loving, kind, caring and generous person who always greeted people with her infectious smile. She had a loving heart and was very dependable if her family or friends need her for anything. By the way, she was one of the QUEENS of Camden Academy High School. Visitation will be held on Friday September 15th, 2023 from 10:00AM - 11:00AM followed by a service of celebration at 11:00 at Grace Baptist Church, 17 West Ave., Norwalk, CT. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk, CT.
